Swimming in the pool

Swimming in the pool is for almost all vacationers an integral part of their vacation activities. Children in particular spend a lot of time in the water. But despite all the fun, swimming in the pool is not completely free of risks. That is why we ask you to pay attention to the following points on the subject of bathing safety. Every pool must be constantly cleaned to ensure the quality and hygiene of the water. For this purpose, water is taken out, cleaned and put back in. Furthermore, water is needed for attractions (e.g. massage jets or slides) and is taken e.g. through suction openings on the wall or from the bottom of the pool. Among other things, the following sources of danger arise here: - The grille securing the intake openings is missing or insufficiently fastened. If you approach the opening too closely or even reach into it, there is a risk that you will be pulled in by the water current and will not be able to free yourself under your own power. This is especially true for people with less physical strength (children!). - The pump of the pool technology creates too great a suction at the suction opening. In this case, people can be sucked in with their hair or body despite the presence of a protective grille and may not be able to free themselves from the suction opening. Their safety is a top priority. Tour Operators therefore make great efforts to ensure this. Despite all efforts, however, it is unfortunately not possible to completely exclude the above-mentioned sources of danger. Since the topic of bathing safety is of immense importance to you and your fellow travelers, we would be grateful if you, as a vacation guest, would also make a contribution through prudent behavior to protect yourself and further improve the safety of hotel pools. What can you do yourself as a guest? When visiting the pool for the first time, take the time to familiarize yourself and any children traveling with you with the local conditions. - Check whether the (intake) openings in the pool are secured with permanently mounted grids. If a grille is missing or loose, please do not reach into the opening under any circumstances! - You can determine the strength of the water flow by holding your hand carefully and flat against a protective grille. Only a minimal or no suction should be noticeable. If the suction is so strong that it sucks your hand against the grille, it could be due to a suction pump that is set too high. - if you are traveling with children, inform them about possible sources of danger (see above) and explain to them the bathing rules in the pool area. - Children should always be supervised when swimming in the pool. In the case of water slides, please make sure that your child leaves the exit area immediately after sliding, as this area is often where the intake openings for the operation of the water slide are located. - Find out where you can find rescue equipment, such as life rings and emergency first aid supplies, in the pool area. If you notice any problems while inspecting the pool, you should leave immediately and inform the hotel and your tour operator's travel management. The latter, together with the hotelier, will take appropriate measures to eliminate the source of danger. Thank you very much for your support. We wish you a nice and safe vacation!
