Aloe Vera

If you are on our island, don't miss a visit to the unique Aloe Vera Interpretation Centre existing in the Canary Islands archipelago, declared Center of Tourist and Cultural Interest, where an extensive tour of the history, cultivation, production and care of this miraculous plant is done. Today you can enjoy six museums. They are spread by different villages on the island of Lanzarote (Arrieta, Punta Mujeres, Yaiza, Teguise, La Graciosa) and Tenerife (La Esperanza). In 2008 the first visitor center opens in Arrieta, Haría. A museum of 150 square metres and decorated with volcanic stone. The museum has several panels that tell the history and culture of Aloe Vera, as well as the production system used for growing and harvesting of the plant. Those panels also show different types of uses, including therapeutic applications for skin, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, bone, etc. The center has also got an audiovisual room, where you can view a thematic video produced in 6 languages. You can also find rooms dedicated to salt, cochineal and orchil. Following the success of this small space dedicated to aloe vera, and in order to reach a wider audience, we decided to expand the information about this plant by opening the remaining four museums.
